IT’S CHRISTMAS – WATCH OUT FOR SCAMMERS by Dianna Tafazoli

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) announced on December 17, 2015 that the newest scam trying to get into the purses and pockets of unsuspecting Americans is called the Secret Sister Exchange. This particular scam invites individuals to list items in exchange with what they will receive from a secret sister – a sort of secret Santa. Once you give the scammers your items you will of course receive nothing back.

When an offer appears too good to be true know that it is too good to be true.   Simply because something appears on the Internet it does not mean that it is legitimate. The Internet is the quickest way to reach a huge number of people making it the ideal medium for scam artists.

The holiday season is ripe for taking holiday cheer from a lot of people. There are people who make a profession out of taking advantage of other people. Instead of Christmas being a time of renewal and jubilation it is a time of sadness for many who fall victim to scam artists. Individuals who are most vulnerable are those who may find themselves short of funds and want to get a break on a service or a product.   If the product or service is not offered in a legitimate concern, then it would be advisable to turn away from it altogether.

Every year the Better Business Bureau sends out SCAM alerts during the holiday season in an attempt to safeguard innocent citizens from scammers. Be ware.
